James P. Verdi
James Verdi is a principal in the Cleveland, Ohio, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He is an experienced labor litigator and negotiator. Jim has successfully first chaired dozens of arbitrations and administrative hearings, and he has successfully represented employers in securing injunctive and other relief as well. He has also successfully advised companies in a variety union organizing campaigns ranging from 20 to over 1,500 potential employees.
Jim works with clients on creative strategies to respond to new risks of union organizing that target the youngest generations of employees who are most likely to join a union today. He regularly negotiates and oversees complex contract negotiations to secure management friendly terms. Jim prides himself on providing energetic and empowering training for supervisors and managers ensure a union-free workplace.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, he worked for the United States Postal Service, the nation’s second largest employer, where he first-chaired more than 20 administrative employment hearings and national arbitrations. Jim provided advice on various employment matters including terminations, leave, accommodations, OSHA compliance, collective bargaining, and workplace investigations.
While attending law school, Jim was a managing editor for the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution and a member of the Corporations Moot Court Team. He won the Topper Eagle Award for his significant contribution to the Moot Court Program. As an undergraduate student at The Ohio State University, Jim served as a student coach for the Ohio State Football team and received the First Year Outstanding Leader Award.
