Alexis Silsbe is of counsel in the St. Louis, Missouri, office of Jackson Lewis. She brings to her practice experience in a broad range of issues related to workplace law and a dedication to helping employers reach their strategic business goals and comply with the growing complexities of labor and employment law.

Alexis represents employers in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies on various labor and employment-related issues. Her experience includes defending single plaintiff, multiple plaintiff, and class action cases seeking damages as well as declaratory and injunctive relief. She has represented clients before administrative agencies including the Missouri Commission on Human Rights and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Alexis has many years of experience advising clients on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Additionally, she counsels clients on disciplinary actions, assists clients with the development and maintenance of personnel policies and procedures, and provides workplace training on discrimination and harassment policies.

Before joining Jackson Lewis, Alexis was an Associate City Counselor for the City of St. Louis, where she led the Law Department’s Labor and Employment Section and honed her workplace law skills while amassing a cross-disciplinary understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations. In this role, Alexis provided advice and counsel to the City’s appointing authorities and officials on a wide range of labor and employment issues. She also supervised the litigation of cases filed against the City and its officials by current and former employees, including cases brought pursuant to 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for alleged violations of the First, Fourth, and Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, as well as actions filed under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Missouri Human Rights Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act.

During law school, Alexis was a Notes and Comments Editor of the Chicago-Kent Law Review. She also served as a teaching assistant for Contracts and was a member of the Chicago-Kent Legal Scholars.
