WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 3, 2010) - Jackson Lewis LLP (www.jacksonlewis.com), one of the country's largest and fastest growing workplace law firms, announced that Michael H. Neifach has joined its Washington, D.C. Region office as a Partner. One of the nation's most skilled and experienced immigration law experts, Mr. Neifach had a distinguished career with the federal government from 1991 to 2009, culminating in his appointment to General Counsel, Office of Principal Legal Advisor, in the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) division of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). At the end of his appointment, Mr. Neifach became a partner in the Reston, Va. law firm of Goel & Anderson where he headed up its division of Immigration Compliance, Enforcement and Homeland Security.
At Jackson Lewis, Mr. Neifach will serve on the firm's Global Immigration Practice Group, a team of multi-lingual attorneys, paralegals and staff that specializes in comprehensive, innovative, and cost-effective immigration services for employers. In doing so, he joins a rapidly expanding field amidst the federal government's increased focus on enforcement and investigation of employers.
"As immigration laws in the United States become more stringent, Jackson Lewis has become a go-to source for counsel," said Sean Hanagan, Operational Coordinator of Jackson Lewis' Global Immigration practice group. "Michael's leading role at the Department of Homeland Security and his familiarity with Washington's decision makers and the immigration policy making process helps assure our clients that we are providing best-of-class legal services in the immigration sector."
Mr. Neifach's practice focuses exclusively on immigration law where he specializes in advising corporate and individual clients on a broad range of issues including maintaining strict workplace law compliance in an era of heightened government enforcement targeting employers, assisting clients who may encounter difficulties or delays in the visa process at United States Consular posts abroad, and government relations activities to enable business community dialogue with agency policymakers. He represents a variety of clients ranging from large companies to private equity funds and law firms to high profile individuals with specific ongoing immigration or visa problems.
Mr. Neifach is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He has a B.A. from the University of Michigan and received his J.D. from the George Washington University National Law Center.
Washington, D.C. Region Managing Partner John M. Remy said, "We are very pleased to welcome Michael to the Jackson Lewis family, where his particular expertise will be a valuable resource to our clients throughout Virginia and across the country."
