LOS ANGELES, CA (February 1, 2019) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Principal Nicky Jatana has been named one of the “Most Influential Minority Attorneys in Los Angeles” by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Ms. Jatana was selected based on her commitment to diversity and inclusion and for excellence in her practice focusing on labor and employment law.
“There are some particularly stellar minority attorneys in the LA region who happen to be from a broad cultural spectrum,” said Anna Magzanya, Publisher and CEO of the Los Angeles Business Journal. “We accepted nominations from our readers and legal experts from some of the top firms and businesses in the region. From there, we narrowed down those considered to be particularly impactful on the legal scene while serving as trusted advisors in the LA region, along with maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards, and for contributions to the Los Angeles business and legal community at large.”
Ms. Jatana emphases her practice on management-side employment litigation and counseling. She has experience with litigation involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, wage and hour, preventive advice and training, and other labor and employment-related matters. She has litigated numerous wage and hour class and multi-plaintiff actions and has trial experience. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
Ms. Jatana has served on Jackson Lewis’ Advisory Committee to the Board of Directors, and previously served on the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, as Co-Chair of the firm’s Asian-American Resource Group, and as Co-Leader of the firm’s Privacy, e-Communication and Data Security Practice Group. She also is the firm’s Principal liaison for the firm's national relationship and sponsorship with the Association of Corporate Counsel.
“Nicky is a talented attorney and the firm congratulates her on this well-deserved recognition,” said Jana Simon, Director of Diversity and Inclusion. “While Nicky served as a member of Jackson Lewis’ Diversity and Inclusion Committee and Co-Chair of the Asian-American Resource Group, she provided valuable insight on how the firm could improve leadership opportunities for female attorneys and attorneys of color, and fostered a stronger and more inclusive firm culture. Her contributions to the firm’s diversity and inclusion initiatives are greatly appreciated.”
Ms. Jatana conducts training seminars and frequently speaks publicly on a multitude of employment law topics. Her experience includes handling employment matters from both in-house counsel and outside counsel perspectives.
