BOSTON, MA (January 31, 2025) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Principal Meredith K. Stewart has been has been selected as a 2025 Excellence in the Law honoree for her pro bono work by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
“Meredith’s dedication to pro bono work is nothing short of inspiring, and we are so proud that she is being recognized for the impact she has made on so many lives,” said Principal and National Pro Bono Chair Robyn L. Aversa. “She truly embodies the core values of Jackson Lewis, consistently demonstrating a commitment to excellence, compassion and justice both inside and outside of the courtroom."
Meredith is a principal in the firm’s Boston office, where her practice is devoted entirely to U.S. immigration and nationality law. She primarily handles employment-based nonimmigrant visas and U.S. lawful permanent residence petitions, working with clients across private industry and academia. Meredith also has a deep background in advising and representing employers of all sizes and their foreign national employees in various U.S. immigration matters. Her work includes H-1B, L-1A/B, E-3, and O-1 visa filings, as well as Employment-Based First Preference petitions for individuals with extraordinary ability, outstanding professors and researchers, multinational executive/managerial transferees and EB-2 petitions for National Interest Waivers.
Meredith is an ardent advocate for hardworking immigrants and refugees, many of whom have often narrowly escaped persecution in their home countries to travel to the U.S. She has a long-standing relationship with Kids in Need of Defense (K.I.N.D), supporting immigrant and refugee children in the U.S. without a parent or legal guardian. Through K.I.N.D., she ensures these children receive high-quality legal representation in immigration court. Additionally, Meredith is deeply involved with the Afghan New Neighbors program at Park Street Church in Boston. Through her tireless backing and legal support, Meredith has secured asylum for several Afghan families who fled the country due to the threat of persecution from the Taliban. Her efforts have been instrumental in helping these families navigate the U.S. legal system, ensuring they receive the protection and stability they need to rebuild their lives in the United States.
"Pro bono work demands dedication, passion and significant resources, often spanning multiple years,” said Meredith. “While the process can be challenging, the ability to create lasting, positive change in the lives of those who need it most is immensely fulfilling. I am thankful for the opportunity to contribute to this important work and for the unwavering support of Jackson Lewis and the pro bono organizations that have played a pivotal role in making this possible."
