Margaret J. Strange and Russell N. Jarem Named Connecticut Legal Awards Honorees

HARTFORD, CT (March 31, 2022) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Margaret “Peggy”  Strange and Russell N. Jarem have been selected as 2022 Connecticut Legal Awards honorees, presented by the Connecticut Law Tribune. Honorees are selected based on legal prowess in the courtroom, attorney mentorship, client service and cultivation, service to bar associations, and for performing pro bono work or community service in a volunteer capacity. Peggy and Russ, together with the other honorees, will be celebrated on May 11 at the Aqua Turf Club.

“Peggy and Russ are both stars in their respective practice areas and role models for lawyers in Hartford and throughout the country,” said Hartford Office Managing Principal Tanya A. Bovée. “Jackson Lewis prioritizes mentorship and empowerment, and both play a key role in strengthening those principles within the firm and in their respective communities.”

Peggy was selected as a finalist in the “Best Mentor” category of the Awards. Her litigation and advice and counsel practice covers the spectrum of employment law issues. Peggy focuses on helping clients through complicated legal challenges around high visibility cases and complex harassment and discrimination allegations. If you ask Peggy what she is most proud of in her career, she would likely tell you that she is honored to be considered a mentor to so many accomplished attorneys. Peggy is extremely generous with her time and advice --always maintaining an open door or lending an ear to attorneys across the country. She is also a member of the firm’s Client Acquisition and Service Team and the office’s Pro Bono Coordinator. Peggy has co-chaired Jackson Lewis’ Women’s Interest Network, repeatedly championing others in the firm. She is also on the board of the YWCA Hartford Region–an organization dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Russ was selected as a “New Leaders in the Law” honoree. He is a member of Jackson Lewis’ Junior Trial Team, a group of young trial attorneys recognized for their commitment to trial practice and litigation experience, prepared to assist in trials across the country whenever it may be necessary. He focuses his practice on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling. He is also a member of Jackson Lewis’ Workplace Training group where he routinely provides training to employers across the country on topics including sexual harassment prevention, anti-discrimination and anti-harassment best practices, and managerial development.

A Hartford resident, Russ also gives back personally and professionally. He currently serves on the Governance Committee as a member of the board of Riverfront Recapture, a non-profit in Hartford dedicated to operating Hartford’s riverfront parks and expanding access to the riverfront. He also served on the 2020 Commission on Judicial Compensation as the appointee of the House Majority Leader and, in that role, assisted in the preparation of a report examining and making recommendations with respect to judicial compensation.
