Keerthi Sugumaran Elected President, Named Board Member of the Year By the South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston
BOSTON, MA (November 27, 2018) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Keerthi Sugumaran has been elected President and named Board Member of the Year by the South Asian Bar Association of Greater Boston (SABA GB). As President, Ms. Sugumaran will help further the organization’s mission by serving as a voice for the South Asian community in the Greater Boston area, supporting the advancement of attorneys and law students of South Asian heritage and furthering the provision of legal services to the South Asian community.
Ms. Sugumaran was honored at SABA GB’s 4th Annual Gala and Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 15, at the Taj Boston. She has proudly served as a member of SABA GB since 2015 and joined the organization’s Board in 2018. Ms. Sugumaran’s term as President will extend through 2019.
“I am honored SABA GB has selected me as Board Member of the Year and elected me as President for 2019,” said Ms. Sugumaran. “I look forward to expanding my role within the organization by becoming a voice for those who are underrepresented in the legal community and serving as a mentor for South Asian law students in the Boston area.”
Ms. Sugumaran is an Associate in the Boston office of Jackson Lewis. As a member of the firm’s General Employment Litigation and Workplace Training Practice Groups, Ms. Sugumaran represents and defends employers in workplace legal issues and provides preventive advice and counsel. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Ms. Sugumaran worked at a Boston law firm for nearly four years as a general litigator. During this time, she represented employers in front of the MCAD, EEOC, state and federal courts.
Ms. Sugumaran earned her B.A. from Bowdoin College and her J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
SABA GB’s mission is to serve as the regional voice for the concerns and opinions of South Asians in the Greater Boston community. The organization provides a forum for professional networking and development, legal scholarship, and education. SABA GB also promotes the advancement of attorneys and law students of South Asian heritage. SABA GB works with other bar associations, government agencies and community groups to achieve greater involvement in and understanding of the issues facing the South Asian community of Greater Boston.
