Samuel E. Black is an associate in the Birmingham, Alabama office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling.

Through his several years of direct courtroom experience, including through oral and written advocacy, as well as his previous experience working in the field of child advocacy and family law, Samuel understands the importance of a strong work ethic, open communication, and meeting individualized client needs, and works to provide the highest quality legal services for his clients.

While attending law school, Samuel was the 1L Representative for the Anti-Trafficking Legal Advocacy Society (2018-2019), a Competition Team Member at the Brendan Moore Trial Advocacy Center (2019-2020), an ABA Representation in Mediation Competition Team Member for the Fordham University School of Law Dispute Resolution Society (2019-2020), the 2L Representative for the OUTLaws Student Group (2019-2020) and the ABA Representation in Mediation Editor and Coach for the Fordham University School of Law Dispute Resolution Society (2020-2021).

Before attending law school, he worked as a child forensic interviewer at the New Orleans Children’s Advocacy Center where he conducted forensic interviews of child survivors of crime and assisted the New Orleans Police Department in the protection and advocacy of children. Following his graduation from law school, he represented clients in family law and estate matters, including pre- and post-judgment custody, child support and custodial issues, divorce, separation, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, and estate planning.

When not working, Samuel is an avid runner, baker, and traveler.
