Phong L. Tran
Phong L. Tran is of counsel in the San Diego office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He advises and represents employers in all aspects of employment and workplace-related litigation under both state and federal law. Phong has defended a broad range of businesses against claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation under California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, and unfair competition. In addition to single-plaintiff employment claims, Phong handles wage and hour class actions and Private Attorneys General Act representative actions.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Phong was a partner at a well-respected boutique litigation firm. He also served as a prosecutor, first as a Special Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of California and later as a Deputy City Attorney with the San Diego City Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, Phong tried several felony and misdemeanor jury trials and argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Phong earned his Juris Doctor degree from the UCLA School of Law. During law school, he served as a judicial extern for then-United States District Court Judge Richard A. Paez, who now sits on the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
