Mackenzie N. Allan
Mackenzie Allan is an associate in the Orlando, Florida, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling. Mackenzie serves her clients by bringing not only her legal skills and experiences to the table, but also her grit and real-world experience. Her decade-long tenure working in nearly every restaurant position enables her to effectively and efficiently defend restaurant and hospitality clients in employment matters. Her study of complex litigation assists her defense of clients facing even the most challenging claims.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mackenzie obtained experience in both criminal and civil matters. Pursuing her passion for obtaining justice for victims of crimes, she began her career as a prosecutor. In that capacity, she obtained valuable litigation skills, including being trial counsel on thirteen jury trials, arguing dozens of substantive motions, defending depositions, and conducting witness interviews. After serving her community as a prosecutor, Mackenzie joined a national firm and represented clients in defense of civil claims such as personal injury, premises liability, negligent security, products liability, and construction defect.
In law school, Mackenzie was selected for Washington University in St. Louis School of Law’s Trial Team, where she competed in four regional and national trial competitions, including the American Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Law Competition. She earned numerous accolades for her excellence in trial advocacy – the 2020 Buffalo Niagara National Trial Competition’s Best Closing Argument award, the only Trial Advocacy High Pass in her class, and the Judge John W. Calhoun Trial Practice Award. Mackenzie wanted to expand her trial advocacy skills to the appellate level, so she applied and was selected for her school’s Admiralty Moot Court team, where she was chosen to present arguments for both the petitioner and the respondent in a national competition.
Mackenzie also made time to volunteer in her community in law school. She served on the board for Young Friends of Legal Services and volunteered at women's clinics throughout law school. One of her proudest accomplishments from law school was competing in the Global Legal Hackathon, an international competition which Forbes describes as “a watershed legal industry event, a global call-to-arms to identify, create, and deliver a new product or service that addresses real-time, real-life legal challenges.” Mackenzie and her team went on to represent the United States on the global stage, taking both global prizes: the Diversity and Inclusion Challenge and the Access to Justice Challenge. As a result of her commitment to the community, Mackenzie was presented with the Dean’s Service Award for her pro bono service.
