Keshia N. Barnes is an associate in the Dallas, Texas office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Keshia collaborates with employers to develop effective litigation strategies that align and anticipate the impact of the evolving legal and regulatory landscape of workplace law.

Keshia understands employment litigation can be especially disruptive and works with employers to develop strategies geared toward simultaneously meeting optimal legal outcomes and business goals. Keshia has defended employers against claims in federal and state courts involving discrimination, harassment and wrongful termination under key employment statutes, including Title VII and Section 1981 of the Civil Rights Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and various state anti-discrimination statutes. She has also represented employers in matters before administrative agencies like the Texas Workforce Division, California Civil Rights Division, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

In order to achieve maximum efficiency, Keshia appreciates that the most effective partnerships begin before litigation commences and works to become a valued member of a client’s extended business team, not just their legal team. To that end, Keshia works to provide proactive strategic guidance on commonplace human resources and employee relations issues, including policy development, internal investigations and responding to employee complaints.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Keshia defended corporate clients against claims, including premises and product liability. She also previously provided legal advice to small businesses, giving her a well-rounded perspective on employment and liability matters.
