Jonathan P. Schmidt

Jonathan P. Schmidt is a principal in the Orange County, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C.
 
Jonathan is an experienced trial attorney and a member of our Trials and Appeals practice group. He has conducted jury and bench trials involving claims of discrimination, retaliation, and sexual harassment, as well as whistleblower and wage-and-hour claims. He has tried cases in both federal and state courts.

Jonathan concentrates his practice on employment-related litigation and counseling. Jonathan defends employers in single plaintiff matters and handles class and collective actions, including PAGA litigation. He also prosecutes and defends trade secret matters.

In addition to his litigation practice, Jonathan partners with clients to handle workplace issues, including implementing preventive strategies, ensuring wage-and-hour compliance, and resolving disputes. He works closely with clients to provide ongoing legal advice to mitigate risk.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Jonathan was a business litigator at a general practice firm and a deputy district attorney for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. As a prosecutor, Jonathan first-chaired multiple jury trials and argued many motions in courts throughout the county.
