Jakyra McLeod is an associate in the Long Island, New York, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling.

Jakyra’s interest in labor and employment law developed after she founded a nonprofit in 2016, named Sessions of H.O.P.E. Inc., centered around “helping other people every-day” and giving back to the community through volunteerism. Overseeing daily operations, Jakyra realized that she was passionate about management. Her nonprofit received a Citation Proclamation by Nassau County Legislator Laura Schaefer on January 8, 2022, for commitment to community service in Nassau County.

During law school, Jakyra served as the academic chair for Black Law Students Association (BLSA) and president for Christian Legal Society (CLS). She was a Long Island Diversity fellow and participated in the Pro Bono Scholars program where she completed 520 Pro Bono hours with the Legal Aid Society Juvenile Rights Practice.
