Ariel P. Kahn
Ariel P. Kahn is an associate in the San Francisco, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Ariel prioritizes critical listening and evaluative questioning to identify and develop strategies to resolve employment litigation and other workplace law disputes.
Ariel understands the disruptive impact of litigation on employers and their constituents and, as a result, prioritizes stability as he guides employers toward effective solutions that endeavor to balance legal restrictions and business goals. To that end, Ariel leverages the litigation experience he gained as Deputy Attorney General for the State of California to proactively anticipate the opposition’s arguments and efficiently achieve optimal outcomes. As Deputy Attorney General, he represented state actors and institutional clients against a variety of constitutional and civil claims. Ariel also has experience working with clients to provide business guidance in the information technology, banking, and material sciences sectors.
A skilled mediator and negotiator, Ariel currently serves on the Advisory Board and is a Negotiation Coach for the EMI Foundation, which supports the needs of the University of California, College of the Law San Francisco (formerly University of California Hastings). In this capacity, he assists students in competing domestically and internationally in negotiation and mediation simulations, replicating his professional successes and fostering a nuanced understanding of foundational negotiation skills. As a student, Ariel was a member of his law school’s Alternate Dispute Resolution Board of Directors and negotiated internationally, taking home several top-place awards for his work as a mediator and advocate. He also mediated cases in the Superior Court of California, County of Alameda, where he helped parties reach collaborative settlement outcomes.
Before becoming an attorney, Ariel was a winemaker in California and Australia. He helped to produce several notable wines, and he maintains his interest in the artistic precision of winemaking now primarily as a consumer and certified sommelier.
