Andrew L. Smith
Andrew L. Smith is of counsel in the Los Angeles office. For over 15 years, Andy has represented clients in a variety of employment-related matters throughout the state of California and the United States. His approach to litigation is driven by the needs of the client, and his counsel is always aimed at finding and delivering the best possible result with minimal disruption to the operation of the business.
Andy represents clients in the hospitiality, education, technology, manufacturing and retail industries, among others, and in cases involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, breach of contract, trade secrets disputes, wage and hour and other employment-related issues. He has also handled a significant amount of non-employment related matters for his clients, adding valuable perspectives on the realities facing employers and business owners.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Andy was the managing partner of the Los Angeles office of a national defense firm and oversaw the daily operations and litigation management of over 40 attorneys. He currently practices in both state and federal courts, as well as before the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Civil Rights Department and Department of Industrial Relations.
In a former life, Andy was a semi-professional musician and elementary school teacher. He is an avid reader, and utilizes his experience as a former cook, barista and bartender to keep his family and friends happy. He also enjoys classic and not-so-classic film, visiting national parks, and spending time with his wife and children.
