James Hager is an associate in the Chicago, Illinois, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling.

James’s practice involves defending employers in a variety of single-plaintiff and class and collective action lawsuits, such as cases involving claims under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Illinois Human Rights Act, and other federal statutes and state and municipal laws.  He has successfully represented employers in state and federal courts and defended claims brought before arbitrators and various government agencies, including the U.S. Department of Labor, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Illinois Human Rights Commission, and the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

While James enjoys litigation, he also works to help employers prevent workplace issues and claims before they arise by providing preventative advice and counseling about a wide variety of employment matters.

Before joining Jackson Lewis, James worked as a research assistant in law school and interned for Chief Judge Sara Darrow at the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois.
