Edward James McNamara

Edward James “Ted” McNamara is a principal in the Los Angeles, California, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He has more than 25 years of experience litigating employment and financial services matters in state and federal courts.

Ted advises and represents employers in a broad range of employment law matters, including those involving discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, wrongful termination, and retaliation claims. He also advises and trains managers and supervisors on preventive litigation practices, focusing on how to comply with applicable laws and regulations, avoid workplace disputes, resolve employee relations problems, and satisfy legitimate employee expectations. Ted also has significant experience in matters involving bank operations, mortgage banking, broker dealer, general commercial litigation, and real estate and has handled a significant number of nationwide class actions.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis in 2017, Ted was an executive director and assistant general counsel for JPMorgan Chase, where he oversaw all litigation directed at the Business Banking line of business. He has 20 years’ experience working at and defending large financial institutions, including Chase, Washington Mutual, and Wells Fargo. He is a regular guest lecturer at the University of Southern California Annenberg School of Communication.

During law school, Ted was selected to participate in the Hale Moot Court Honors Program, where his written brief was recognized with distinction. He is an Ohio native, but he has called southern California home for more than 30 years. Ted is an active member of several community organizations.
