Timothy M. McCarthy

Timothy M. McCarthy is a principal in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Having dedicated his entire legal career to the practice of labor and employment law, he focuses on representing employers in a wide range of workplace law matters, including litigation and preventive advice and counseling.

With a solid understanding of the issues and trends currently impacting businesses, Tim actively partners with clients on all aspects of workplace issues and helps to implement effective strategies to ensure compliance. He regularly provides guidance to employers on workplace policies, arbitration agreements, wage and hour issues, and employee discipline, with a particular emphasis on compliance with state and local employment laws.

Tim also has experience litigating in federal courts, state courts, and before administrative agencies, while also appearing regularly at arbitrations and mediations. Tim defends employers in a wide variety of employment matters, such as discrimination, disability and leave management, harassment, and retaliation claims as well as wage and hour cases. 

While attending law school, Timothy was an executive editor of the Rutgers Law Journal and participated in the Hunter Moot Court Competition. Timothy was named a Michael Young Scholar for his participation in the Marshall-Brennan Constitutional Literacy Project, and served as a judicial intern in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis as an associate, Timothy was a summer associate in the firm’s Morristown office, and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Joseph L. Yannotti, N.J. Superior Court - Appellate Division.
