Jackson Lewis Receives 2024 James W. Rouse Excellence in Diversity Award from Chesapeake Human Resources Association

BALTIMORE, MD (November 11, 2024) — Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce it has been selected as the 2024 James W. Rouse Excellence in Diversity Award recipient in the Large Business category by the Chesapeake Human Resources Association (CHRA). The award recognizes employers in the greater Baltimore region who have demonstrated a commitment to promoting a diverse and healthy workplace. Jackson Lewis was recognized at the CHRA’s Annual Diversity & Inclusion Symposium in Hunt Valley, Maryland, on November 8, 2024.

“An abundance of mediocrity in an organization is often a symptom of a lack of diversity,” said Firm Board member and Baltimore Office Managing Principal Donald “Donny” E. English Jr. “Employers who want to reach their highest potential understand that organizational excellence can only be achieved when everyone is required to earn both the opportunity to compete and the opportunity to thrive.”

“Our mission is to help clients achieve their full potential by having a diverse, inclusive and fair workplace where everyone can excel,” continued Donny. “At Jackson Lewis, we practice the same principles that we preach to our clients. We lead the legal industry with both our diversity and excellence in lawyering, and we are honored to be recognized by the CHRA for our efforts.”

The James W. Rouse Excellence in Diversity Award is presented annually to local organizations in the Baltimore Metropolitan area demonstrating their commitment to a diverse and healthy workplace through various human resources efforts. These efforts include training and development, recruiting, employee retention, community outreach, mentoring, shadowing, wellness, cultural competence and diversity training.

“Jackson Lewis’ commitment to continuous organizational enhancement empowers us to seek the best talent and to engage in deliberate efforts that ensure every person who joins our firm can be successful,” said Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer and Principal Kimya S.P. Johnson. “We take pride in knowing that our initiatives not only enhance our effectiveness as an advisor but also foster a workplace where our employees feel welcomed and valued. Congratulations to Donny English and our Baltimore Office colleagues for evidencing our firmwide commitments.”

CHRA's methodology for selecting recipients involves an in-depth review of nomination forms, CHRA Board recommendations and notable public initiatives. Finalists may be asked to participate in a conference call interview with the Diversity & Inclusion Committee before the final selection is made. Earlier this year, Jackson Lewis was honored with the “Tipping the Scales” award from the Diversity & Flexibility Alliance for its commitment to gender parity and achieved Diversity Lab’s 2023-2024 Mansfield Plus Certification, among other recognitions.
