Eric P. Burns
Eric P. Burns is of counsel in the Washington, DC Region office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including preventive advice and counseling.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Eric was a partner at one of the largest insurance defense firms in the country. He has litigated matters from personal injury, to complex tort, construction defect, professional liability, and commercial litigation.
His employment practice focuses on litigation of non-competes, and defense of companies and individuals in court, arbitration or before the EEOC, in wage and hour claims, as well as discrimination claims. He also counsels clients, where he brings his diverse practice experience to bear on employment related issues to help develop commonsense solutions.
He has successfully tried multiple cases to verdict as first chair, and many more as second chair. He has experience in all levels of the state and federal courts of Washington, D.C. and Virginia. His trial experience informs his advice to clients at the outset of a matter, enabling him to work with clients to develop a proactive strategy that aligns with client goals, and the ultimate achievement of a successful outcome.
Eric lives in Northern Virginia with his wife and 3 boys. He is an enthusiastic supporter of University of Michigan athletics, Detroit sports teams, and Liverpool Football Club. In his “free time” he enjoys reading fiction and fishing.
