Juan serves as both the managing principal and litigation manager of the firm’s San Juan office. He has successfully represented employers in litigation before federal and Puerto Rico courts, including jury trials. Juan represents clients through all phases and types of federal and local labor and employment lawsuits and administrative matters, ranging from individual charges and cases to broad-scale collective and class actions regarding wage and hour disputes, employment discrimination and harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, statutory leaves of absence, welfare benefits (ERISA), Railway Labor Act, defamation, non-compete covenants and other employment-related torts.
Juan provides legal advice to management on human resources compliance issues and policy matters spanning the entire employment life cycle, from the hiring, discipline and termination of employees, including drafting of employment manuals and policies and the development of strategies for effective liability mitigation. Juan also has experience providing legal advice to companies establishing operations in Puerto Rico and conducting due diligence employment law audits.
Juan earned his B.S. from Cornell University and his J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico Law School.
Sara is a principal in the firm’s San Juan office. Her practice focuses on employment discrimination and wage and hour law counseling and litigation on behalf of employers in Puerto Rico local and federal courts. She has extensive trial experience before both federal and local courts and administrative forums in Puerto Rico. She also has experience defending employers facing collective wage and hour class actions.
Sara also has more than 15 years of experience offering preventive advice to clients, developing and revising policies, and giving seminars to clients on different areas in the Employment Law field.
Sara earned her B.A. and J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico and her LL.M. from Harvard Law School.
