
Payam Malakouti
Payam Malakouti is a committed advocate for employers. He is an associate, located in the Los Angeles office of Jackson Lewis P.C. His practice is primarily focused on multi-plaintiff and class action employment litigation in state and federal courts. Payam has defended more than 50 wage and hour class and representative actions over the last three years, including 30 actions brought under California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).
Some of Payam’s most recent representative class and PAGA matters include the following:
- Class and PAGA action brought on behalf of over 1,500 janitorial employees involving claims of missed meal and rest break periods, unpaid minimum wages and overtime, unpaid expense reimbursement, and wage statement violations.
- Class and PAGA action brought on behalf of over 1,000 engineering employees involving claims of missed meal and rest break periods, unpaid minimum wages and overtime, unpaid expense reimbursement, and wage statement violations.
- Class and PAGA action brought on behalf of over 250 technicians involving claims of missed meal and rest break periods, unpaid minimum wages and overtime, and wage statement violations.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Payam worked as an employment litigation associate with an emphasis on class and PAGA matters in the Woodland Hills, California, office of a national law firm. While in law school, Payam clerked for the California Department of Justice with the Litigation Division, and also served as the Research Editor of the Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review while in law school.
