Kimya S.P. Johnson Inducted Into Society of Benchers at Case Western Reserve University School of Law
PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 4, 2022) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer and Principal Kimya S.P. Johnson has been inducted into the Case Western Reserve University School of Law’s Society of Benchers. The 59th annual induction event took place on October 9 at the School of Law.
“Kimya has made exceptional strides within our firm and continues to make an impact on the legal profession,” said Firm Chair Kevin G. Lauri. “She is well-deserving of this honor, and we are thrilled that her accomplishments have been recognized by her alma mater.”
The Society of Benchers is an honorary society for distinguished graduates and faculty of the Case Western Reserve University School of Law. Each year, the Society inducts new alumni members, as well as a faculty member and public member, based on outstanding achievement and dedication to the principles of the legal profession. Since its founding in 1962, the Society has welcomed 284 members and includes recent Presidential Medal of Freedom recipient Fred D. Gray Sr., among other notable alumni.
“It is an honor to be inducted into the Society of Benchers alongside brilliant colleagues and members of the community,” said Kimya. “I am humbled and proud to receive this recognition, and to represent the important work to which I have dedicated myself during the span of my career.”
Kimya is Jackson Lewis’ Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer and a principal in the Corporate Diversity Counseling group. With nearly 20 years of experience as an employment attorney and in organizational diversity, equity and inclusion, she provides advice and counsel to clients and supports a wide range of employers in their efforts to provide effective and integrative DEI plans. Kimya leads a team to implement a firmwide strategy that promotes the firm’s positive work culture and ensures those who join the firm’s workplace—regardless of background or identity—can be successful and experience inclusion throughout the arc of their career.
Before practicing law, Kimya was a public elementary school teacher in South Bronx, New York, through the Teach for America program where she received the Sallie Mae “Excellence in Teaching” award, and she remains committed to lifelong teaching and learning.
Kimya earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law, her M.A. from Columbia University, and her B.A. from Spelman College.
