Jackson Lewis Strengthens Employee Benefits Practice with Addition of David M. Sawyer
MIAMI, FL (May 10, 2018) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce David M. Sawyer has joined the firm’s Miami office as a Principal. Mr. Sawyer, who has almost 20 years of experience advising clients on all facets of employee benefits tax matters, joins Jackson Lewis from Ogletree Deakins Nash Smoak & Stewart PC.

Mr. Sawyer focuses his practice on a broad range of benefits matters, including qualified retirement plans, supplemental deferred compensation plans, health and welfare plans, equity-based compensation plans, executive compensation issues, and other benefits related matters arising out of employment and corporate restructuring transactions. He has significant experience working with Taft-Hartley plans, including involvement with the development of funding improvement and rehabilitation plans, negotiating investment contracts, including side letters, with hedge funds, private equity funds, and REITs and advising trustees on their fiduciary obligations.
Mr. Sawyer also has considerable experience advising clients on ERISA fiduciary responsibilities, assisting clients during governmental audits and examinations, including participation in various voluntary compliance programs and regularly assisting in coverage-related analyses under fiduciary liability insurance policies.
