Shannon Bettis Nakabayashi joins Jackson Lewis from Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP where she represented employers through all stages of complex and individual litigation, from inception through trial, before U.S. federal and state courts, arbitration panels and administrative agencies. She has managed and defended class, collective and PAGA representative actions. Ms. Bettis Nakabayashi has successfully tried and/or arbitrated cases in California, Nevada and Washington relating to wage and hour misclassification, independent contractor misclassification, and FEHA/Title VII discrimination.
In the area of preventive practice, Ms. Bettis Nakabayashi counseled employers from various industries on risk management and litigation prevention, compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws, local California ordinances and accommodation of employee disabilities. She also advised clients on employee disciplinary issues, discrimination and harassment complaints, and employee terminations. Ms. Bettis Nakabayashi earned her J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law and her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley.

Yana S. Johnson joins the firm from Morrison & Foerster LLP where she focused her practice on employee benefits and executive compensation matters. She advises employers on a variety of compensation and benefits issues including health, welfare and retirement benefits, executive employment and separation agreements, equity and phantom equity awards, and other incentive compensation. Ms. Johnson also counsels clients on issues related to golden parachute payments and deferred compensation, COBRA, the Affordable Care Act and the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. She is very experienced in handling compensation and benefits issues in various transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, financings, asset dispositions and spin-offs and for debtors undergoing bankruptcy proceedings. Ms. Johnson earned her J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of California, Hastings and her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
