Jackson Lewis Expands Government Relations Capabilities in New York; Adds Health Law and Transactions, Lobby Law Compliance Groups

WHITE PLAINS, NY (September 6, 2016) As announced in July, Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, has expanded its existing workplace law capabilities with the addition of a group of New York State government relations and health care attorneys formerly with Wilson Elser.  In the firm’s most significant expansion since its inception, 21 attorneys and two government relations directors will add their substantial experience to Jackson Lewis’ Albany and New York City offices.

“We are pleased to be able to offer a broader scope of services,” said Firm Chairman Vincent A. Cino. “This is a constantly changing business, and we realized that in order to anticipate our clients’ needs, an expansion of our traditional labor and employment services was required.  Our stellar new team of attorneys from Wilson Elser, led by new Practice Group Leaders Ken Shapiro (Government Relations, including Lobby Law Compliance) and Jerry Hoffman (Health Law and Transactions) in addition to Jonathan Bing, Principal in the New York City Government Relations practice, and Alissa Yohey, a key addition to our hospitality group, will draw on their respective experience in government relations, lobbying compliance and health care law to augment our current workplace law capabilities.”

The new attorneys will work with clients to navigate the often complicated nuances of New York state and local governments; provide advice and counsel on the full spectrum of lobby law compliance matters; assist health care providers in addressing the myriad of issues encountered in an evolving health care regulatory and transactional environment and help clients successfully navigate operational concerns related to the hospitality industry.

“This expansion into New York of our existing Government Relations Practice Group and the addition of our new Health Law and Transactions Practice Group is a result of the increasing demands from our client base for a more expansive suite of business services,” said Albany Principal William J. Anthony, Co-Leader of Jackson Lewis’ Class Actions and Complex Litigation Practice Group. “Our Albany capabilities currently encompass the full spectrum of labor and employment needs, ranging from class action litigation to benefits to traditional labor matters. The addition of these new practices greatly enhances our resources and enables us to offer a full complement of legal and business services to our client base.”

“Jackson Lewis offers a strong fit for the expertise of the new practice groups,” added new Albany Office Managing Principal Lisa M. Marrello. “In addition to their existing Government Relations practice group, Jackson Lewis already has more than 2,000 health care clients throughout the country, and our team’s background provides a natural extension of the services the firm already provides.”
