Joy M. Napier-Joyce Named Managing Shareholder of Jackson Lewis' Baltimore Office

BALTIMORE, MD (November 13, 2014) -- Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the largest workplace law firms in the world representing management, is pleased to announce Joy M. Napier-Joyce has assumed the role of Baltimore office Managing Shareholder.  Ms. Napier-Joyce takes over the post from Richard J. Hafets, who will return full-time to his expanding labor and litigation practice.

Ms. Napier-Joyce counsels clients in a broad range of benefit matters, including general compliance and administration of qualified retirement plans under ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code.  She also assists clients with welfare plan issues involving cafeteria plans, health plans, flexible spending accounts, group insurance products, COBRA and HIPAA.  Ms. Napier-Joyce has a particular focus on assisting employers with the various compliance requirements associated with federal health care reform, and has been a frequent speaker on the topic.  Her practice also includes advice on non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements and other executive compensation matters, including issues related to compliance with Section 409A of the Internal Revenue Code.

Ms. Napier-Joyce is a member of the American Bar Association and the Employee Benefits Subcommittee of the Maryland Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Maryland, Massachusetts, and before the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Ms. Napier-Joyce received her B.A. in Government and English from Franklin & Marshall College and her J.D. from the Boston University School of Law cum laude where she was the Book Review and Topics Editor for the Boston University Law Review.

Ms. Napier-Joyce has been repeatedly named a “Rising Star” in Employee Benefits/ERISA by Maryland Super Lawyers magazine. In addition, she has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America® since 2012.
