WHITE PLAINS, NY (June 19, 2014) -- Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the largest workplace law firms in the world representing management, is pleased to announce the firm has again been certified as a “Gold Standard Firm” by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF.) This is the third consecutive year Jackson Lewis has achieved the distinction, which is reserved for large firms that have successfully integrated female attorneys into top leadership positions.
“The achievement of women within our firm has been a key to Jackson Lewis’ growth and success,” said Vincent A. Cino, Firm Chairman. “We are proud to be again recognized by WILEF for our inclusion and advancement efforts, and remain committed to providing our female attorneys with opportunities and policies that allow them to develop as leaders within our profession and further their legal expertise.”
To meet WILEF’s requirements for Gold Standard designation, Jackson Lewis successfully demonstrated that female attorneys are well represented among its equity partners and hold key leadership positions, including on governance and compensation committees, and that the firm recognizes the contributions of women through compensation.
“Creating and sustaining a diverse and inclusive workplace remains a major priority at Jackson Lewis,” added Weldon H. Latham, Shareholder in the firm’s Washington, D.C. Region office as well as Diversity Committee Chair and Leader of the firm’s Corporate Diversity Counseling Group. “Our 2014 Gold Standard Certification is a testament to our efforts to recruit, retain and advance women within our firm.”
Jackson Lewis has been at the forefront in fostering the advancement of women in the legal profession, most notably through the firm’s annual employment law conference for women in-house counsel and human resource executives. The firm’s Women's Interest Network (WIN) supports and encourages the success of women at the firm by fostering the skills necessary to create new business and leadership opportunities - including initiating the Jackson Lewis Master’s Series. Now in its second year, the Master’s Series is a monthly hour-long conference call where attorneys from all of Jackson Lewis’ 55 locations are encouraged to listen to a Jackson Lewis “Master” answer questions relating to client development and effective work habits.
“Jackson Lewis has always shared our clients’ goals of emphasizing integrity and respect for the contribution of every employee,” said Susan M. Corcoran, a WIN Co-Chair and Shareholder in the firm’s White Plains, NY office. “We will continue to make mentoring and leadership opportunities available for our attorneys, and as always will encourage and implement new policies geared towards ensuring all attorneys, including women, are provided with continued opportunities for professional advancement.”
The WILEF Gold Standard Certification is the latest honor for Jackson Lewis, which has been consistently recognized in the industry for its commitment to women. Most recently, Jackson Lewis was designated a “Ceiling Smasher” and one of the “25 Best Law Firms for Female Partners” by Law 360 in their 2014 Glass Ceiling Report.
