Keith Ranta Joins Jackson Lewis in Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD (May 29, 2014) -- Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the largest workplace law firms in the world representing management, is pleased to announce Keith E. Ranta has joined the firm’s Baltimore office as Of Counsel.  Mr. Ranta joins Jackson Lewis from the compensation and benefits practice of a full-service Washington, D.C. firm, where he advised clients regarding all aspects of employee benefits and executive compensation arrangements, including issues arising in connection with public offerings, mergers, acquisitions and other corporate transactions.

Mr. Ranta’s employee benefits experience includes advising publicly and privately held companies on the design and implementation of qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, equity and incentive compensation plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans and other compensation plans.  He assists clients with drafting and negotiating employment and severance agreements and the application of Section 409A of the Internal Revenue Code to deferred compensation arrangements.  Mr. Ranta also advises clients with employee benefit plan compliance and correction matters under Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor correction programs.

Mr. Ranta is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Massachusetts.  He is Vice Chair of the Employee Benefits Committee of the District of Columbia Bar Association, and is a member of the American Bar Association.  Mr. Ranta received his B.S. from Cornell University in 1996, and earned his J.D., cum laude, in 2001 from the Georgetown University Law Center, where he was a member of the Tax Lawyer.
