Jackson Lewis Continues Tennessee Expansion

MEMPHIS, TN (April 16, 2012) - Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, is pleased to announce that J. Gregory Grisham has joined the firm’s Memphis office as Partner.  Mr. Grisham, a native of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, joins the firm from Leitner, Williams, Dooley & Napolitan and brings with him over 20 years of experience in the labor and employment field.  He is the fourth attorney to join Jackson Lewis’ Memphis office since December 2011, bringing the office’s total to nine after opening with just three attorneys in 2008.

Mr. Grisham regularly defends employers in discrimination, harassment, retaliation wrongful discharge and whistleblower claims. He also advises and defends employers in Wage & Hour matters and lawsuits, unfair labor practice and union representation proceedings before the NLRB.  In addition, Mr. Grisham represents employers in the enforcement of post-employment restrictive covenants such as non-compete, non-solicitation and non-disclosure agreements and is well-known in the region for successfully handling housing discrimination claims for business owners under the Fair Housing Act.

He also has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, having represented employers in the arbitration of employment and labor related claims throughout the United States.

Mr. Grisham is admitted to practice in Tennessee; the United States Supreme Court; United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth, Eighth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits; United States District Courts for Western, Middle, and Eastern Districts of Tennessee; and the United States District Court for Eastern and Western Districts of Arkansas.

Mr. Grisham is rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell and has been selected for inclusion in Mid-South SuperLawyers.  He is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America and a 1997 graduate of Leadership Collierville, where he then served as Secretary for the Board of Trustees from 1997-2000.   In addition, he was recently appointed by Lt. Governor Ron Ramsey to the Tennessee Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission for a six-year term ending June 30, 2017.  He is currently serving as President of the Memphis/Mid-South Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and is a Member of the Tennessee Advisory Committee to the United States Commission on Civil Rights.  Further, Mr. Grisham is a Master of the Bench in the Leo Bearman Sr. American Inn of Court, an invitation-only organization designed to improve the skills, professionalism and ethics of the bench and bar.

Mr. Grisham received his B.S. from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, his M.B.A. from The University of Mississippi and his J.D. with honors from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at The University of Memphis where he was a Member of The University of Memphis Law Review.
