Jackson Lewis Partner Named 2012 'Client Service All-Star'

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (February 10, 2012) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing law firms, is pleased to announce that Richard S. McAtee, Managing Partner of the firm’s Raleigh-Durham office, has been selected for inclusion in The 2012 BTI Client Service All-Stars.  This designation was given to only 272 individual attorneys, who were recommended exclusively by corporate counsel for their keen understanding of business issues, thought-leading approach and total commitment to client needs.

To develop their latest exclusive ‘All-Star’ list of attorneys, who ranked at the highest levels in the areas of Client Focus, Exceptional Understanding of the Client’s Business, Outstanding Results, Outsized Value and Legal Skills, BTI conducted over 300 individual interviews with corporate counsel at Fortune 1000 and other large organizations.

“I am proud to congratulate Rick for his selection as a Client Service All-Star. It is the culmination for Rick of many years of ‘putting the client first,’ a priority that we instill in all of our almost 700 attorneys nationwide,” said Patrick L. Vaccaro, Firm-wide Managing Partner.  “What is truly gratifying is to have him recognized by corporate counsel of major corporations – the very people we represent and serve each and every day.  He should be very proud and humbled by this recognition.”

Mr. McAtee focuses half of his practice on employment and non-compete counseling and litigation and the other half on traditional labor law issues. He has defended numerous employment cases, obtaining favorable judgments for employers in virtually every industry on a wide-variety of issues and is experienced in evaluating, managing, and defending individual and multiple-plaintiff lawsuits.

On the traditional labor side, he has wide experience in virtually all aspects of the practice, including successfully negotiating labor contracts and representing employers in labor arbitrations and before the National Labor Relations Board.  He also has advised employers interested in maintaining union-free status in the face of active union organizing efforts.

Within both the employment and traditional labor practice areas, Mr. McAtee has a very active management training and education practice before in-house counsel, HR professionals, managers and first-line supervisors. He also has written a number of articles on workplace law topics.  Mr. McAtee was recognized as a leading lawyer in the Employment and Labor Law category of the Chambers USA Legal Guide in 2009, 2010, and 2011, and also recognized in Super Lawyers in 2012.

He is admitted to practice law before the North Carolina State Courts, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of North Carolina, U.S. District Court for the Middle District of North Carolina, U.S. District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, Pennsylvania State Courts, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the Third, Fourth and Sixth Circuit Courts of Appeals. He is also an active member of national and state SHRM associations.  He is a graduate of the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University and the Duquesne University School of Law.
