Jackson Lewis LLP Reinforces Commitment to Diversity

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (April 12, 2011) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, announced that it has enhanced its efforts to improve the firm’s diversity by enlisting the services of Diverse Attorney Recruiter Ron Jordan of Carter-White & Shaw LLC.

“Diversity has always been a core value at Jackson Lewis, and as the firm continues to expand it will be made even more of a priority,” says Firm-wide Managing Partner Patrick L. Vaccaro.  “Over the last several years, we have taken a number of steps to improve diversity throughout our organization, including naming Weldon Latham, who is Chair of the firm’s Corporate Diversity Counseling group, as the new Chair of Jackson Lewis’ internal Diversity Committee.  Hiring Ron Jordan, a long-time friend of the firm, was the logical next step in our journey to ensure diversity as we continue to recruit and employ the best and brightest attorneys.”

Mr. Jordan, the founding Principal of Carter-White & Shaw, has twenty years of experience in attorney placement with his company, whose mission is to be the leader in discovery and promotion of diverse legal talent.   He will devote his efforts to seeking diverse Partners, Of Counsel and Associates for all of Jackson Lewis’ 46 offices throughout the nation, and will regularly liaise with Mr. Latham and representatives of the firm’s local, regional, and firm-wide management.

“I have been familiar with Jackson Lewis for over 20 years, and have always been impressed with its attorneys’ understanding of employment and diversity-related matters,” says Mr. Jordan.   “The entire management team at Jackson Lewis clearly understands the necessity and complexity of having a workforce that reflects the various communities in which its attorneys work, and I am happy to be able to assist the firm as it furthers its commitment to diversity and inclusion.”

With his additional responsibility as the firm’s Diversity Committee Chair, Mr. Latham has been working with members of Jackson Lewis’ Management Committee to enhance the number of diversity steps taken by the firm.

“We will continue to advance our goal of recruiting, hiring, retaining, developing and advancing a diverse team of attorneys who share our passion for representing management in all aspects of workplace law,” says Latham.
