Jackson Lewis LLP Adds Partner in Chicago

CHICAGO, IL (April 6, 2010) – Jackson Lewis LLP (www.jacksonlewis.com), one of the country’s largest and fastest growing workplace law firms, has announced that Christopher A. Garcia has joined the firm as a Partner in its Chicago office. Most recently a partner in the Complex Discrimination Litigation Practice Group at Seyfarth Shaw LLP, Mr. Garcia represents management in all aspects of employment law, including defense of litigation in matters concerning civil rights, denial of contract/services, and class action lawsuits. He has also successfully tried significant cases involving workplace violence, sexual assault and wrongful death claims, and as a result provides training to corporations on violence assessment and prevention.

Last year he achieved a defense verdict as lead trial counsel in the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in a religious discrimination case for a national private security firm.  The case was featured in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin on July 27, 2009.

Mr. Garcia writes and lectures extensively on employment discrimination and labor law topics, particularly issues involving the Americans with Disabilities Act. He is a frequent speaker at Hispanic National Bar Association conferences and conventions.

Mr. Garcia is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court; the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit; the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana; the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois Trial Bar; and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida. He is a member of the Chicago Bar Association; the American Bar Association; and the Hispanic National Bar Association.  He also served on the Board of Directors for the National Assoc. for Down Syndrome from 2002-04.

He graduated with honors from the University of California at Santa Barbara; entered the Ph.D Program in English Language and Literature at Cornell University, where he taught for four years; and later graduated from the Cornell University School of Law.
