Jackson Lewis Attorneys Provide Pro Bono Legal Assistance for Haitian Relief Effort

WHITE PLAINS, NY (January 25, 2010) - Several attorneys in the New York offices of Jackson Lewis, one of the country’s largest and fastest growing workplace law firms, are volunteering to provide pro bono legal assistance in support of the Haitian relief effort.  These attorneys are working in a clinic to help Haitians fill out Temporary Protected Status Applications and fee waiver requests.  The project is supported by the City Bar Justice Center and the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

Jackson Lewis has contributed $10,000 to AmeriCares and Hope for Haiti, two groups that have been working in Haiti for over 20 years on numerous aid efforts.  Attorneys have also made individual donations to support relief efforts through a variety of organizations.

These efforts are part of Jackson Lewis’ broader commitment to providing pro bono legal services and charitable aid in the communities in which we practice.  The firm has an active Pro Bono Program in each office, and each attorney is expected to render at least fifty hours of pro bono legal services per year.  For questions about the firm’s Pro Bono program or for more information about the Haitian relief effort, please contact Douglas Smith at (412) 232-0118 or Stephanie Lewis at (864) 672-8048.
