Jackson Lewis Expands Employee Benefits Practice in Midwest

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., (September 22, 2009) -- Jackson Lewis LLP – one of the country’s largest and fastest growing workplace law firms – announced the expansion of its Employee Benefits Practice Group, adding two attorneys in the Midwest Region. The additions expand the Employee Benefits Practice to 20 attorneys from across the country, representing the substantial bench strength of the firm’s national presence in employee benefits law.

Randy Limbeck joins the firm as a Partner in the Omaha office and Lisa deFilippis comes on board in the Cleveland office as Of Counsel in the Benefits Group.

A former shareholder and head of the employee benefits practice group at McGrath North Mullin & Kratz, P.C.  LLO, Mr. Limbeck’s practice will continue to involve the design and implementation of all types of pension, profit sharing, 401(k), employee stock ownership, nonqualified deferred compensation and tax-sheltered annuity plans, as well as various medical, vacation, severance, cafeteria, post-retirement and other “health-and-welfare” and fringe benefit plans. He represents clients before the IRS in connection with resolving defects with their qualified plans, and in audits before the IRS and the U.S. Department of Labor.

Mr. Limbeck is listed in “Best Lawyers in America” and is a member of the Omaha Bar Association, the Nebraska State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is a graduate of Creighton University where he received his J.D. cum laude and an undergraduate degree cum laude in accounting.

Ms. deFilippis comes to Jackson Lewis from Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP in Cleveland. She also practiced law at Arter & Hadden LLP and as in-house counsel for Leaseway Transportation and Penske Truck Leasing in the areas of employee benefits and business law. At Jackson Lewis, Ms. deFilippis will advise clients on employee pension and benefit plan design and termination; 403(b) plans; maintaining plans in compliance with ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code;  establishing and administering welfare benefit plans, including health care and cafeteria plans; and preparing and analyzing nonqualified deferred compensation programs, including nonqualified stock plans, executive compensation agreements, nonqualified plans of tax-exempt entities and maintaining compliance with IRC 409A. Ms. deFilippis also practices in the area of ERISA’s fiduciary responsibilities, including advising on fiduciary responsibilities with regard to selection and monitoring of investment managers and establishing investment policy guidelines. She is admitted to the Ohio Bar and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Ohio. She is also a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, the Ohio State Bar Association and the Worldwide Employee Benefits Network, Cleveland Chapter.   Ms. deFilippis graduated cum laude from the University of Virginia and received her law degree cum laude from Suffolk University Law School.
