Jackson Lewis Opens Office in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (September 2, 2008)— Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s leading workplace law firms, announced today it has opened an office in Albany, N.Y. With this expansion, the firm now has over 100 attorneys working in four locations in the state including New York City, Long Island and White Plains. Franklin H. Goldberger, a prominent attorney in the Capital Region, has joined the firm as Resident Partner. Formerly Of Counsel at Girvin & Ferlazzo, Mr. Goldberger has practiced labor and employment law for more than 38 years, representing employers in a broad spectrum of industries, including manufacturing, higher education, health care, broadcasting, municipal government, transportation, and retail. Patrick L. Vaccaro, firm-wide Managing Partner of Jackson Lewis said, “We have, for many years, represented clients of all sizes in the Albany area. By establishing this office, we will be able to provide a higher level of service to our clients.” Mr. Goldberger will work closely with the firm’s White Plains office to meet the needs of clients. Joseph Saccomano Jr., Managing Partner of the firm’s White Plains office adds, “Almost no area of the law changes as quickly as labor and employment. A change in Administration and passage of a major new legislation such as EFCA and the ADA Restoration Act will place tremendous pressure on employers. Jackson Lewis’ 50 years of service to companies in New York State, with our focus on complex employment litigation and class actions, wage and hour compliance, labor relations, employee benefits and immigration, offers a value proposition for businesses in the Capital and surrounding upstate region.” In his many years of private practice, Mr. Goldberger has assisted employers in successfully resisting scores of union organizing efforts; has tried numerous representation, unfair labor practice, arbitration, and discrimination cases; and has bargained dozens of collective bargaining agreements.  In addition to providing full-service labor representation to his many clients, Mr. Goldberger has lectured extensively and given seminars on labor relations and employment issues for the Public Broadcasting System (PBS), the New York State Health Facilities Association, the New York Hospital Association, the National Mass Retailing Institute, and various national and local human resource associations.  Mr. Goldberger has been listed in Who's Who In American Law and Best Lawyers in America.
