Leading OSHA Expert Leaves Department Of Labor to Join Jackson Lewis LLP

WASHINGTON, (July 7, 2008) –Occupational Safety & Health expert Bradford T. Hammock, has joined Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest growing workplace law firms, as a partner in its Washington, D.C. Region office.  He is the third partner to join the D.C. Region office this year, including Garen Dodge and Paul DeCamp.

Since 2005, Hammock served as Counsel for Safety Standards in the Solicitor’s Office at the U.S. Department of Labor.  As Counsel, Hammock reviewed and approved every significant OSHA safety standard.  Hammock advised OSHA administrators on every step of the rulemaking process and participated in compliance assistance activities in several areas, including personal protective equipment, electrical safety, and electric power transmission and distribution.  Hammock was also the lead attorney on the DOL’s comprehensive approach to ergonomics.

John Remy, managing partner of Jackson Lewis’s Washington, D.C. Region office, said, “Brad is a substantial OSHA lawyer whom our clients can turn to for the most relevant, effective and efficient OSHA advice.  He brings the highest degree of technical competence to one of the most complex areas of workplace law.  In the OSHA arena, Brad can do it all – rulemaking and regulatory work, compliance counseling, audits and litigation avoidance, and citation settlement and abatement.  We are thrilled to have him on board, and we believe any client with any level of workplace safety concern will feel the same way.”

Mr. Hammock joined the Department of Labor as an attorney in 1998 and quickly rose through the ranks with his outstanding work on several high-profile rulemakings, including ergonomics, silica, and electric power transmission and distribution.  Prior to the DOL, he was a litigator in the Washington, D.C. law office of Willkie Farr & Gallagher.

Mr. Hammock graduated magna cum laude from the Syracuse University College of Law in 1996 where he was editor-in-chief of the Syracuse Journal of International Law and Commerce and associate editor of The Labor Lawyer.  He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.  Mr. Hammock is a member of the District of Columbia and Virginia Bars.

“I am thrilled to be joining Jackson Lewis.  I have always been impressed with the firm’s reputation in the field of employment and labor law,” said Mr. Hammock, “and I look forward to adding my experience to Jackson Lewis’s resources.”
