New Legal Resource Available for Richmond Area Employers

RICHMOND, VA September 13, 2006 ? Employers in the Richmond area and throughout Virginia have an important new resource at their disposal in their efforts to manage and resolve disputes with their employees.  Jackson Lewis, a national law firm representing management exclusively in workplace law, announces the opening of their new Richmond office.

Jackson Lewis has hired David E. Nagle to open its Richmond office.  Nagle, formerly a partner in the law firm of LeClair Ryan, is a veteran employment attorney who has practiced in Virginia for the past 25 years.  "We are excited about the opportunity to bring our very special style of practice to the Richmond market," said Patrick L. Vaccaro, the firm's Managing Partner.  "And we are especially pleased to have someone of David's talent and integrity to lead us. We expect great things from David and our Virginia team."

"Virginia employers throughout the state are experiencing tremendous growth and success" said Tyler Brown, Managing Partner of the firm's office in Vienna.    "Unfortunately, that success often brings growing pains in terms of managing employees, a reality demonstrated by the number of employment lawsuits filed each week in Virginia courts.  Our expertise in helping employers devise constructive policies and procedures, as well as effectively and efficiently defending them in the event of a dispute, gives employers a powerful resource," said Brown.

The firm opened their first Virginia office in 2002 after relocating from downtown Washington DC. Earlier this year, Mark deBernardo, one of the nation's leading employment attorneys specializing in drug and alcohol testing issues, joined the Vienna office as a partner.  Jackson Lewis acquired the immigration firm of Danziger, Mak & Fu in August 2006.  Pam Mak and Minnie Fu, now partners in Vienna, bring a wealth of immigration experience to the Virginia offices.

"There are few firms in the country that match our caliber in employment and labor work.  From immigration, to affirmative action plans, to union organizing campaigns, Jackson Lewis brings to the table a wealth of resources and depth of experience," added Brown.

David Nagle graduated from The College of William and Mary in 1976.  He received a J.D. from the University of Richmond in 1981 and LLM (Labor Law) from Georgetown University in 1983.  For several years he wrote a column on employment law in Metro Business (Richmond Times-Dispatch), and served as the editor of the Virginia Employment Law Letter. He is the recipient of numerous awards and honors and has been included in The Best Lawyers in America, America's Leading Lawyers for Business, Virginia Business magazine's "Legal Elite", Virginia Super Lawyers and Richmond magazine's "Top Lawyers."  In 2000, Mr. Nagle successfully argued the case of Circuit City Stores v. Adams in the U.S. Supreme Court, establishing the right of employers to enforce agreements to arbitrate workplace disputes under federal law.

Jackson Lewis consistently receives outstanding recognition by peers and clients alike.  The firm was named as one of the top twenty "Go To" firms in a recent survey of Fortune 250 companies conducted by American Lawyer Media's Corporate Counsel magazine.  Many of the firm's lawyers have been named "Super Lawyers" by their peers in polls taken by Law & Politics, a company that conducts impartial surveys.  The firm was also named a top tier labor and employment law firm in the 2006 edition of Chambers USA, an international guide to America's business lawyers published by the London-based Chambers and Partners.  And, most recently, nine of the firm's labor attorneys were honored in the Top 100 Labor Attorneys in the United States, as determined by the Labor Relations Institute.

Founded in 1958, Jackson Lewis is dedicated to representing management exclusively in workplace law.  The firm's 400 attorneys focus solely on employment, labor, immigration and benefits law and related litigation.  The firm has offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Greenville, Hartford, Long Island, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Morristown, New York, Orange County, CA, Orlando, Pittsburgh, Portland, OR, Providence, Raleigh-Durham, Richmond, Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle, Stamford, Washington DC Region and White Plains.
