NEW YORK, NY (September 16, 2020) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce the firm has successfully achieved Mansfield Certification Plus after completing the 12-month Mansfield Rule 3.0 certification program. Jackson Lewis earned the Mansfield Rule certification by affirmatively considering women, attorneys of color, LGBTQ+ attorneys, and attorneys with disabilities – at least 30 percent of the candidate pool – for recruitment, governance roles, equity partner promotions, and inclusion in formal pitches to clients. The firm achieved “Plus” status for exceeding the baseline certification requirements, and for successfully reaching at least 30 percent diverse lawyer representation in a notable number of current leadership roles.
“I am very proud of the efforts we have undertaken as a firm that led us to achieve Mansfield Certification Plus for 2020,” said Firm Chair Kevin G. Lauri. “On every level of the firm, we are committed to investing our time and resources to ensure our culture is one that promotes diversity and inclusion. By achieving this Certification, Jackson Lewis has implemented real change to further engage our diverse workforce and promises to remain unwavering in our focus on inclusivity.”
Presented by Diversity Lab, the goal of the Mansfield Rule is to boost the representation of diverse lawyers in law firm leadership by broadening the pool of candidates considered for these roles and opportunities. As the data analyses and highlights below reveal, firms participating in the Mansfield Rule are making great strides in diversifying their leadership.
“Jackson Lewis’ participation in the Mansfield Certification program has generated valuable dialogue about diversity and inclusion,” said Tanya A. Bovée, Managing Principal of the firm’s Hartford, CT office and member of the firm’s Board of Directors where she serves as D&I Liaison. “Participating in Mansfield Certification has helped us keep inclusion top of mind in all firmwide decisions. Our current Board of Directors is the most diverse board in the history of the firm and we know our work has just begun. We will continue our efforts to create the changes necessary to increase long-term inclusion and equity within the firm.”
