Jackson Lewis Bolsters Employment Practice, Welcomes Dorothy "Dottie" Parson McDermott in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS, IN (October 17, 2017) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Dorothy “Dottie” Parson McDermott has joined the firm’s Indianapolis office as a Principal. Ms. McDermott joins the firm from Ogletree Deakins, where she represented employers in the full spectrum of labor and employment law matters.
“Dottie has a wealth of experience in all aspects of employment law, making her an immediate asset to our growing Indianapolis office,” said Michael W. Ms. McDermott focuses her practice focuses on defending employers and management in matters involving the American Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Title VII, Section 1981, the Indiana Wage Payment and Claims statutes, trade secret matters, and Fair Labor Standards Act audits and class actions. She also advises clients on ERISA and Non-ERISA employee benefits matters, and human resource issues such as reductions in force, employee handbooks, policies, severance agreements and workplace violence prevention restraining orders.
Throughout her career, Ms. McDermott has represented employers in a wide range of industries, including education, consumer electronics, healthcare, information systems, processing/manufacturing/sales (food and products), security, sports and telecommunications.
Ms. McDermott is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, State Bar of Wisconsin, Hispanic National Bar Association, American Bar Association, Indianapolis Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute.
Ms. McDermott received her B.S. from Valparaiso University and her J.D. from University of Illinois College of Law.
