Prominent Attorney Joins Jackson Lewis LLP

HARTFORD, Conn., (May 6, 2008) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country's largest and fastest growing workplace law firms, has announced that Beverly Garofalo joined the firm as a partner in its Hartford office. She was formerly a partner with the Hartford office of Thelen Reid Brown Raysman & Steiner LLP.

Ms. Garofalo has experience counseling employers on a wide range of employment issues, including sexual harassment; discrimination; accommodating disabled employees; family and medical leave laws; HIPAA; wage and hour laws; hiring, disciplining and terminating employees; downsizing and reductions-in-force; classifying employees and independent contractors; e-mail and internet policies; employment, non-competition and confidentiality agreements; mergers and acquisitions; and outsourcing.

She has written and spoken extensively on employment law issues and is on the board of editors of the Corporate Counselor newsletter. In its 2007 rankings of America's leading lawyers, Chambers USA cited Ms. Garofalo as, "diplomatic and resourceful, Beverly Garofalo has made a name for herself in the state as a classic employment lawyer. She is a very bright, tenacious defender of her clients." She is rated among the "Best Lawyers in America" for 2008 and was named a 2008 Connecticut Super Lawyer and a 2008 New England Super Lawyer.

Ms. Garofalo and Jackson Lewis partner, Margaret Strange, worked together at Day Berry & Howard (now Day Pitney.) I am very comfortable with the firm and have every confidence this is the best place for me to expand my practice."

Ms. Garofalo graduated magna cum laude from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1991. Following graduation, she clerked for Chief Justice Ellen Ashe Peters of the Connecticut Supreme Court.

In Hartford, Ms. Garofalo serves on the Board of Trustees of Nutmeg Big Brothers/Big Sisters and has represented South Park Inn Homeless Shelter on a pro bono basis for more than 15 years.
