ALBANY, NY (July 13, 2016) – New York’s largest government relations practice, along with major health care and compliance practices, are changing law firms, it was announced today.
After a successful 21-year affiliation, the practice areas will be leaving Wilson Elser and joining Jackson Lewis P.C., as of September 1.
In a joint statement, the law firms and the practice leaders said the transition is amicable and that the firms will continue to seek opportunities to collaborate in the future.
“We’re grateful for the long and successful affiliation we’ve been able to have with Wilson Elser for these 21 years,” said Kenneth L. Shapiro, leader of what will become Jackson Lewis’ government relations, health care and hospitality law and lobbying compliance practices. “But this is a constantly changing business and we came to the conclusion that Jackson Lewis is a strong fit for our work going forward.”
“We wish Ken and his team the best as they chart a new course,” said Daniel McMahon, Wilson Elser’s chairman. “Together they built a premier lobbying practice during their years with us. We are grateful for their long and active service and look forward to working with them in the future.”

The move means a significant expansion of Jackson Lewis’ Albany presence, which opened in September 2008 with two attorneys and has grown to include more than 10.
Wilson Elser will maintain its Albany office and its established litigation and commercial practices.
