New Partner and Of Counsel Join Expanding Birmingham Office of Jackson Lewis LLP

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., (May 1, 2009) – Jackson Lewis LLP – one of the country’s largest and fastest growing workplace law firms – has added Steven M. Stastny and Susan W. Bullock to its professional group in Birmingham. The office, which opened less than two years ago with four partners, has expanded to include 10 attorneys.

Well-known Birmingham employment litigator Steve Stastny joins Jackson Lewis as a Partner. He previously served as managing partner of the Birmingham office of Ford & Harrison LLP and brings with him extensive experience in all types of class and protected conduct discrimination, retaliation and harassment lawsuits.  An AV-rated attorney, Mr. Stastny’s significant litigation experience has focused on multi-plaintiff, collective and class-action suits for clients in the manufacturing, retail, healthcare and automotive dealership sectors. His expertise extends to the area of occupational safety and health, which impacts certain ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and workers’ compensation retaliatory discharge suits. Mr. Stastny is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and has been named an Alabama Super Lawyer by Law & Politics magazine. He is licensed to practice law in Alabama and Louisiana as well as the 5th and 11th Circuit Court of Appeals. He received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University and a juris doctorate from Tulane University Law School.  During law school, Mr. Stastny served on the editorial board of the Tulane Maritime Law Journal, was appointed a Senior Teaching Fellow, and was twice awarded the American Jurisprudence Prize. Joining Mr. Stastny in the Birmingham office as Of Counsel is Susan Bullock, formerly senior counsel with Ford & Harrison LLP in Birmingham.

A Dothan, Alabama native, Mrs. Bullock practices in all areas of employment law and litigation, including federal and state employment discrimination laws and federal wage and hour laws. She has represented and counseled clients in a number of business sectors, including real estate management, retail, entertainment, technology, multi-family housing and automotive sales. She is a published author and has lectured extensively on topics such as the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), military personnel rights, sexual harassment, internal investigations and employment law basics.

Ms. Bullock is a member of the American, Alabama and Birmingham Bar Associations. Her undergraduate degree is from Birmingham-Southern College, and she received a juris doctorate from the University Of Alabama School Of Law.
