Local Jackson Lewis Offices Address Upcoming Administration Changes with Series of Public Seminars

PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 3, 2009) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing employment law firms, announced that attorneys from the firm’s Philadelphia and Morristown offices will be participating in two parts of a three-part series of public events covering all sides of the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA.) EFCA, which President Obama has vowed to sign into law, replaces the current secret ballot system with one of "card checks" and has been a controversial topic since its inception.

The programs, broadcast by Philadelphia’s "The Big Talker 1210 AM" (WHPT) are expected to attract national attention and will feature well-known representatives from both the business and labor communities.

The series will proceed as follows:

Part I: The Management Perspective Wednesday, February 11

Sponsored by Jackson Lewis: Keynote speaker Steven J. Law, Legal Officer and General Counsel of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce joins panel members Aric Newhouse, Vice President of the National Association of Manufacturers and Jackson Lewis Partners David Islinger, Martin Payson and Rick Grimaldi as they discuss negative ramifications of the bill and ways business owners can effectively fight EFCA. The event will conclude with a one hour live radio show featuring questions from the audience.

Part II: The Organized Labor Perspective Thursday, February 26

Designed to thoroughly examine the reasons union and organized labor strongly support EFCA, discussions will focus on reasons EFCA should be supported by the nation’s workers and signed into law by President Obama.

Part III: The Radio Debate Wednesday, March 10

Sponsored by Jackson Lewis: The Big Talker 1210’s comprehensive coverage of all sides of the Employee Free Choice Act culminates with a special LIVE prime-time remote broadcast debate hosted by radio personality Dom Giordano. Dom will welcome key players from the first two public events and offer each a unique and extended live-radio forum to discuss and debate their perspective on EFCA.
