DALLAS, TX (August 1, 2023) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Kristin L. Bauer has been appointed as president-elect of the National Association of Women Lawyers (NAWL). Kristin will begin serving her term as president of NAWL in January 2024.
“We congratulate Kristin on this significant and well-deserved appointment,” said Firm Chair Kevin Lauri. “Kristin possesses the perfect skillset to further NAWL’s mission of actively promoting women in the legal profession and we look forward to seeing how the Association will continue to grow and strengthen under her leadership.”
Kristin is a principal in the Dallas office of Jackson Lewis where she represents management exclusively in workplace law and related litigation. In addition to handling an active employment litigation docket, Kristin provides advice and counsel to management on preventive strategies, including termination decisions, investigations, employment agreements, non-compete and non-solicitation issues, wage and hour laws, policies and handbooks, remote work, and emerging issues impacting the workplace. She devotes a substantial part of her practice to counsel on the numerous laws touching ill and injured workers, including the ADA, the FMLA, and related state laws, and strategies to manage those risks. Kristin frequently speaks on a number of employment-related topics.
As president-elect, Kristin will help further NAWL’s mission of providing leadership, a collective voice, and essential resources to advance women in the legal profession and advocate for the equality of women under the law. Since 1899, NAWL has been empowering women in the legal profession, cultivating a diverse membership dedicated to equality, mutual support, and collective success. Kristin has been actively involved with NAWL since 2009 and received the “Virginia S. Mueller Outstanding Member” Award in 2012. She has held leadership roles in several NAWL signature programs, most recently serving as board liaison for research efforts such as the NAWL Survey Report on the Promotion and Retention of Women in Law Firms.
“I am humbled and grateful for the privilege to serve as president-elect of NAWL,” said Kristin. “During my term, I pledge to champion the rights and aspirations of women, both within the profession and more broadly. NAWL has been at the forefront of advocating for women's rights, empowering women attorneys to rise to their fullest potential, and removing barriers to build a more diverse and inclusive profession – at all levels of the profession. I am committed to continuing this legacy and building upon the incredible work accomplished by my predecessors.”
Kristin earned her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and her B.A. from the University of Texas.
