WHITE PLAINS, NY (June 10, 2013) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, is pleased to announce it has raised thousands of dollars in support of Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP), an organization whose mission is to honor and empower Wounded Warriors, for the second year in a row.
In honor of Memorial Day, attorneys and staff from each of Jackson Lewis’ 53 locations participated in a firm-wide “Casual Friday/Jeans Day” on Friday, May 24th as part of the firm’s efforts to raise money for WWP. The firm raised over $13,000 to assist WWP in providing injured service members with programs and services designed to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment.
“It is a true honor to participate in such a rewarding program and help a worthy cause,” said New York City Partner Matthew Steinberg, who originated the firm’s pro bono relationship with WWP. “Over the past two years, WWP has become an organization near and dear to Jackson Lewis. As a national law firm with resources throughout the country, we recognize we are in a great position to enhance service members’ access to the legal process they regularly risk their lives to defend. We will continue to do whatever we can to help WWP in their efforts to assist injured service men and women during and after recovery.”
Jackson Lewis has been involved with WWP since 2010, when attorneys around the country began providing pro bono legal services to Wounded Warriors and their caregivers. The firm created a dedicated e-mail helpline through which wounded service members and their families are able to contact Jackson Lewis attorneys to obtain pro bono legal representation. Since creating this helpline, attorneys in over 20 of Jackson Lewis’ regional offices have performed related pro bono work on a wide array of legal matters.
