WASHINGTON, D.C., (April 13, 2011) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, is pleased to announce that Washington, D.C. Region Partner Weldon H. Latham has been confirmed by the Maryland Senate to serve on the Maryland Stadium Authority (MSA).  Mr. Latham, who is Chair of the Jackson Lewis Corporate Diversity Counseling Group, was nominated for this appointment in February 2011 by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley.

Established by General Assembly in 1986, the original mission of the Maryland Stadium Authority was to build, manage and maintain quality facilities to retain major league baseball, and return NFL football to Maryland.  In the past twenty years, the MSA has completed projects, including convention centers, museums, theaters, sports arenas and parks, in partnership with local governments, universities, and the private sector throughout Maryland.

“When we recruited Weldon to the Firm a few years ago, it was clear he had a great interest in and love for public service and since he has been with us at Jackson Lewis,  his devotion in this regard has not diminished,” says Patrick L. Vaccaro, Firm-wide Managing Partner of Jackson Lewis. “I have no doubt he will be a valuable addition to the MSA.”

“I am extremely honored by this appointment, and I look forward to working hard to advance the MSA’s mission of providing enjoyment, enrichment, education and business opportunities for citizens of Maryland,” says Latham.

Mr. Latham, who was recently honored with a 2011 Howard University Alumni Award for Distinguished Postgraduate Achievement in Law, represents Fortune 500 companies, major government agencies, and other complex organizations in a variety of legal matters, including corporate diversity counseling, employment law, and government relations.
