Jackson Lewis Opens San Diego Office

SAN DIEGO (November 17, 2008) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest workplace law firms, announced that it has officially opened a new office in San Diego.  The office will be headed by Resident Partner Paul F. Sorrentino, who will be joined by Associate Jennifer L.  (Denkins) Santa Maria.  Previously, both Mr. Sorrentino and Ms. Santa Maria worked locally for Jackson Lewis in San Diego but were associated with the firm’s Los Angeles office.  With the addition of this new office, Jackson Lewis now has over 100 attorneys in five locations throughout California, including Los Angeles, Orange Country, Sacramento and San Francisco.

Vaccaro, firm-wide Managing Partner of Jackson Lewis.  “Their experience representing employers will help us serve and expand our significant client base in Southern California.”

Mr. Sorrentino received his J.D. from California Western School of Law and his B.A. from Brandeis University.  He has built a significant practice representing management in labor and employment law.  He defends employers in cases involving wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, wage and hour matters and related claims.  He also represents clients in National Labor Review Board and labor commission hearings.  Mr. Sorrentino counsels clients on day-to-day workplace matters, including advice on disciplinary issues, hiring and firing, leave laws, and drafting employment handbooks and policies.

Mr. Sorrentino is a member of the San Diego County and American Bar Associations, the State Bar of California, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, San Diego Trial Lawyers Association, and the Federal Bar Association. He is admitted to the California State Bar, the United States District Court for the Southern District, the Central District and Northern District of California, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and the 11th Circuit.

Ms. Santa Maria’s practice centers on employment litigation, defending employers against a variety of claims including wrongful termination, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour, breach of contract, and FLSA classification issues. She also counsels employers on issues of hiring, promotion, discipline, termination, and overtime compensation. Ms. Santa Maria received her J.D. from California Western School of Law and her B.A. from Michigan State University where she graduated with honors.

Ms. Santa Maria is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association. She is admitted to the State Bar of California, the United States District Court for the Central District, and the United States District Court for the Southern District.
