Jackson Lewis Opens Detroit Office

DETROIT, Mich., (February 7, 2008) - Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country's leading workplace law firms, announced today it has opened an office in Detroit, marking its thirty-fourth office in the United States. The office will be headed by Partner and Resident Manager Maurice G. Jenkins, who served as Chief Labor Counsel for General Motors Corporation before entering private practice. Mr. Jenkins, who has litigated cases across the United States, is one of Detroit's most widely respected attorneys, having been recognized by Michigan Super Lawyers and Chambers USA. He was a distinguished member of the American Bar Association's Task Force on the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. Mr. Jenkins, a Detroit native, has over twenty-five years of experience representing leading companies in employment and labor law matters, including Target Corporation, Ford Motor Company, Federated Department Stores, Webasto Roof Systems, Delphi, Lear Corporation and Magna International. He has significant expertise in Sarbanes-Oxley and whistleblower actions, and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Jenkins has litigated a number of employment cases involving claims of discrimination, wrongful termination, whistleblower retaliation and reduction in force.

Mr. Jenkins serves on the Board of Trustees at the Michigan State University College of Law and serves on the faculty of the Michigan Institute of Continuing Legal Education. He is also Chairman of the Detroit Civil Service Commission and serves on the Board of Directors of Black Family Development, Inc.

Joining Mr. Jenkins in the Detroit office is Associate Emily M. Petroski who specializes in labor and employment relations and appellate litigation. Ms. Petroski has represented some of the world's largest corporations, including Ford Motor Company, AT&T, Target Corporation, Merrill Lynch and MGM Grand Detroit, LLC. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Seedlings Braille Books for Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing high quality, low cost Braille books for children.
