Jackson Lewis LLP Continues To Grow In Virginia

RICHMOND, Va., (October 2, 2009) – Jackson Lewis LLP,  one of the country’s largest and fastest growing workplace law firms,  announced that Kevin D. Holden has joined the firm’s Richmond office as a Partner.  Previously, Holden led the employment law practice group at the Richmond office of Kaufman & Canoles.

Mr. Holden has more than 20 years experience representing management and defending claims of wrongful discharge, race, sex, and disability discrimination, non-compete agreements, sexual harassment, breach of contract, unpaid overtime compensation and various other workplace torts. His practice regularly takes him before state and federal courts and administrative agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, and various human rights and unemployment commissions.

A substantial amount of Mr. Holden’s time is devoted to counseling business owners, health care groups, and members of management – regional, national, and local – on a variety of work place issues, such as drafting and review personnel policies and practices, HIPAA compliance, and discipline and termination decisions, in an effort to ensure awareness of and compliance with applicable employment laws and avoid the disruption, expense and uncertainty of litigation. He is a frequent lecturer on a variety of workplace and health care issues.

Mr. Holden was selected by his peers for inclusion in “The Best Lawyers in America” in the field of labor and employment law for 2009 and 2010.  He was also included in the  Virginia SuperLawyers list for 2008 and 2009, and Virginia Business magazine named him one of Virginia’s “Legal Elite” for 2007, 2008 and 2009.

David E. Nagle, a Partner in the Richmond office, says “Kevin is a talented attorney and is well-respected as an advocate by the employment bar.  I had the pleasure of working with him years ago, and watched him develop as an advocate, and as a counselor of employers.  I have attended some of his management training sessions, and he does a great job.  I am delighted to bring Kevin on board as a Partner in Richmond, because while other firms are shrinking, Jackson Lewis has added nine employment attorneys in our Virginia offices this year.”

“Getting a person of Kevin’s stature, reputation and experience is a tremendous coup for Jackson Lewis,” says John M. Remy, Managing Partner of the firm’s Washington, D.C. Region office. “It gives us the necessary strength to continue expanding in this important market. We are delighted to have him on our Virginia team.”

Mr. Holden is a member of the Virginia Bar and is admitted to practice in the Fourth and Seventh Circuits of the U.S. Court of Appeals; the U.S. District Court (Southern District of Indiana); the U.S. District Court (Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia); and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court (Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia).

He has a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University and graduated cum laude from the Indiana University School of Law. Mr. Holden is also a member of the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and the Richmond HR Management Association. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Virginia March of Dimes and is also a Vice President for the Virginia Business Leadership Network.
